10 days

Wonderful last 10 days, from the Barbiere run, David Owen Norris’ Jolly Roger in Oxford, week in Norway in which we did 9 of the most exciting performances of Alehouse I’ve been involved with, a hair-raising dash (ironically for one so resolutely bald) to sing the 5 Mystical Songs in London’s Temple Church and now a final two days in Crickhowell working with their fabulous choral society on the semi-staged Matthew Passion ahead of the performance on 5th May (tickets 01873 853394). I’ve directed, devised, sung incredible music and text, from Purcell and George Herbert through Vaughan Williams to David Owen Norris, via sea shanties and folk songs, played the fiddle, acted, improvised, and through it all collaborated with inspiring and brilliant musicians among other creative people. On top of all that, my family came to Norway and were in London, and when I flew back from Oslo, it appeared spring had finally arrived. Good times.
